Through Tails to Trails hiking services are tailored specifically to your pet's needs. All breeds, sizes, temperaments, and situations considered and can be scheduled for a free meet and greet.
Having nearly a decade of experience in training and rehabilitation (both behavioral and physical) I am comfortable and confident in handling dogs of many types in many scenarios.
What makes it different?
While a regular walk is absolutely great there are few things that activate all of the senses like getting on the trails. It is a dog's natural place. Their eyes light up, the crinkles of the nose intensify, the ears perk up a little more. It really is a grounding experience that brings both great exercise and stress relief. All hikes are at the dogs speed and weather appropriate. An eye is kept for signs of fatige/physical injury at all times. We are outdoors and sometimes things happen (thorns, goatheads). Up to date flea and tick preventatives are recommended. On the trail water is offered regularly and K9 first aid kit is on person at all times.
While this is not a training service, I will often integrate leash training into hikes. This not only builds our bond, but is to be sure I have complete control of the dog given we are in a less controlled environment. And it allows for a more comfortable hike for both the dog and myself.
If your dog has known reactivity towards humans or dogs this does not exclude them from getting out! Special considerations and private trails will have to be utilized thus additional charges will apply.
*Fully Insured, as well as up to date on emergency pet medical training(cpr, snakebite, heat/cold, etc)*
*$80/90 min for dogs deemed reactive. Still $30 for additional half hour.
Same household only. May require a walk with owner during meet to asses how the dogs interact together, particularly if multiple large breeds(Masitffs, Danes)
The ultimate adventure. We'll venture to a pre determined, agreed upon location for up to 5 hours of trail time. Locations include the north fork boise river, the payette river, south fork boise and more!
